There is not much to say about Unplug that the app does not say itself. This is the short version: what it does, and where it stops.
01 — What it does
Unplug puts the decision at a time of day when it is still easy, and then holds it. A block you can undo at the moment you want to undo it is not a block.
Blocks and the daily limit hold until the next day. No warning, no confirmation dialog, no button inside the app that hands them back early.
You can always get out: remove Unplug under iOS Settings, or delete the app. Unplug cannot prevent that and does not claim it can. The promise is narrower, and true — it will not switch a block off early by itself.

It does not measure your brain
Unplug is a habit app, not a medical device and not treatment. The 90 days, the streak, the rewiring — that is structure to hold on to, not a diagnosis.

The hours are an estimate
The time you got back is calculated from the daily usage you typed in yourself during onboarding. That makes it a guess with arithmetic on top, and it is labelled that way wherever it appears.
Not watching
It cannot see what you do on your phone
The part of Unplug that reads per-app minutes runs in a separate process that is not allowed to reach the network, and Apple’s developer agreement forbids sending that data anywhere. Your screen time never leaves the device — not because we are generous, but because it could not work any other way. There is no ad network in the app, no analytics, and nothing to track you with.
03 — The line it holds
Where a number is a guess, the app says it is a guess. Where a limit can be walked around, it says that too. The content filter names the apps it cannot reach. The estimate is called an estimate. That is the whole editorial line, and it is the only thing here worth calling a principle.
